Every cloud has a silver lining – economic squeeze promises bright future for SaaS

Whilst the economy is heading for a recession, Adam Smith Chief Executive of SaaS provider, ProjectProgress, is predicting that the slow-down will be the start of widespread take-up of ‘cloud computing’ technology.
SaaS offers a number of benefits over ‘On-Premises software’ including flexibility for remote working and substantial cost savings. It has been a hot topic for some years amongst technology professionals, but it has not been taken up in the mainstream. Adam Smith predicts that this is all about to change. He says,
“In recent years organisations have had concerns about security issues. Now, people are comfortable with the concept and are looking to enjoy the considerable cost savings that they could make. At a time when many traditional software vendors are looking to increase maintenance charges, the markets are looking to SaaS as a leading-edge alternative. There seems to be a ground swell of opinion now that the economic situation is the catalyst that SaaS needed to move it into the mainstream.”
The ProjectProgress suite of systems gives project teams the ability to deliver projects within the estimated cost and deadline. It enables oversight of corporate programmes and delivers instant snapshots of key projects allowing instant drill-down to major project issues and risks eliminating costly project bottlenecks. As a result, accurate forecasts can be generated with effective collaboration. ProjectProgress is a hosted service so there is no hardware or software installation required.
